Every family has one. The gift that was used once, admired twice, and has lived in the hall closet ever since.

And every family has the other kind too. The pocketknife that's been sharpened for thirty years. The cast-iron skillet nobody is allowed to put in the dishwasher. The chair on the porch that everyone somehow ends up in.

This guide is for the second kind. It covers what makes a gift worth giving, the right Chama piece for each person on your list, how to personalize a gift for clients or a team, and when to order. What makes a gift worth giving?

A gift is worth giving when it gets used often, gets better with age, and outlasts the occasion. That's a short list, and most things don't make it.

Here's the test we'd use for anything, ours included:

• Can you name what it's made of? Hardwood, canvas and leather are words that mean something. “Durable materials” does not.
• Will it be used this month? A gift that waits for the perfect occasion usually waits forever.
• Will it look better in five years? Leather darkens. Canvas softens. Hardwood picks up the marks of the places it's been. Plastic just fades.
• Is there a warranty that means it? All three Chama pieces carry a lifetime warranty.

Luxury gifts for him that actually get used

The word “luxury” gets attached to a lot of things that live in a box. The best luxury gifts for him are the opposite. They go outside, get used hard, and come home a little more his every time.

For the rancher, the landowner and the father who has a chair already

The Vaquero is the chair that started Chama. It's a campaign chair made the old way, with a solid hardwood frame, natural cotton canvas and leather details. It folds flat and carries in one hand. Set it up at the fire, the tailgate, the deer camp or the back porch. It looks right everywhere it goes, and everywhere it goes, someone asks about it.

For the host

For the one with a good eye

Most camp tables look like they're apologizing for existing. The Gunnison doesn't. It has a solid hardwood slatted top, and the whole setup packs into its included canvas carry bag. Plenty of them never go camping at all. They end up in the backyard, set for dinner, because they look like they belong there.

For the person who has everything

Personalized gifts for clients and teams

Why the price won't drop in November

Chama doesn't run Black Friday sales or holiday discounts. The price in October is the price on December 24.

That matters more than it sounds. In the National Retail Federation's 2025 holiday survey, 63% of shoppers planned to wait until Thanksgiving weekend to do most of their buying. For most brands, that's a sensible bet. For ours, waiting only costs you the color you wanted.

When should you order holiday gifts?

Order by mid-November for a relaxed holiday, and early December at the latest. Chama ships UPS Ground and doesn't offer expedited shipping. We'll post exact ship-by dates on this page in November.

Plenty of people already plan ahead. In the same NRF survey, 42% of shoppers planned to start before November. The earlier you order, the better your odds of getting the exact piece and color you want.

A gift they'll still be using

The right gift isn't the most expensive thing on the list. It's the one that's still in use when the card is long gone. Pick the person, then the piece: The Vaquero for the one with a porch, The Sundowner for the host, and The Gunnison for the one with a good eye. Order early. The price will be the same in December, and the piece will still be here in twenty years.
